Here is something I found on another blog about the song little drummer boy...
"It’s a song about a poor little boy who get told to come see this newly born prophesied king–a mystical baby of sorts, and everyone is bringing all kinds of riches to give as gifts. Well the little boy’s got nothing to give, let alone something fit for a king (much like humble artists of our time…). But he’s gotta give SOMEthing, and he decides he will play his drum. His music is all he has, and that’s what he gives as his gift.
Most people can grasp this much of the song, but there’s more to it: the boy knows in his head that he has nothing that can compete with stuff like gold and frankincense, but he plays his music anyway. Something, if only his subconscious, tells him that playing his song for this new king IS an appropriate gift. Maybe it’s because he and the king have something in common (”I am a poor boy too…”), but regardless: music is seen to be worth as much as gold. This king loves the song, and smiles at the little boy and his drum."

Here's another unusual drum (check out the Hang drum below if you haven't seen it. Milltone drums are made in the US, hard to get and expensive, I'm bidding for one on e-bay at the moment ! They have a very soft sound from them and are very relaxing and soothing to listen too, unusual to say about drums :)
Have a look at this video , you can see and hear what I mean !

Just found this on another blog :
Sept 25 2008 "28 years ago today we lost, in my opinion, the best drummer of all time. Some may say others have more defined drumming skills, but no one can deny the power, the passion and the unique style that was his alone. He's inspired so many others over the years, including his own son, Jason who proudly continues his father's legacy."
"With Zeppelin, I tried to play something different every night in my solos. I'd play for 20 minutes but the longest ever was 30 minutes. It's a long time, but whenI was playing it seemed to fly by" J.Bonham

If you want to know how djembe is played or what it is all about , watch a Master at play here, there is nothing more amazing than seeing someone so talented play an instrument. Mamady Keita seems like an incredibly healthy person (and djembefola) in mind, soul, and body. His centeredness and integrity, I feel, are reflected in his playing - they come through crystal clear!

July 1st in Ireland anf it's still raining, so a little bit of colour to make you smile :) :) This is a brilliant photo of GW "dancing" with a troupe of djembe players from West Africa, Usually the soloist follows the dancer..... I wonder what he's thinking :)

Also make sure to check out the links from the site where you can get more information on volunteering and the orphanages where the children come from.

Ok it's not about drumming but it is about one of my favourite places, Garrarus beach lies on the coast road just outside Tramore,
just like the rest of Ireland, they want to dig it up and change it around and put a golf course, houses etc, in other words ruin a natural resource of great beauty, anyway if you want to see more or even send an objection, check out the site , click below
The proposed development consists of a 142 suite hotel, leisure centre & spa, 51 two-story chalets, 28 three-story residential houses, 18 hole golf course and all associated site works including roads, car parks, street lighting, telecommunications centre and ESB substation.
